About Montreal Barre au Sol
Montreal Barre au Sol brings Paris-style floor-barre to Montréal: classical barre transposed to the floor to refine placement, turnout, core support, and length with low impact and musical flow. In each class, the floor removes balance as a distraction so you can organize the pelvis–spine relationship and build clear, supple lines—useful for curious beginners, hobby dancers, and professionals alike. The atmosphere is welcoming and focused: no props or mats—just you and the floor.
Our approach follows the Boris Kniaseff lineage as taught in Paris today by Yasna Stevovich. This academically structured, musical method progresses from foundational exercises into torsion, batterie, adage, and grand battement to develop control and ease that transfer back to the barre—and daily movement. Montreal Barre au Sol is led by Bailey Madill, a professional ballet dancer/teacher and the first and currently only Canadian to be certified in The Boris Kniaseff Floor-Barre Method by Yasna Stevovich©.
